Secretary of State Hargett, Sen. Mark Pody, Rep. Clark Boyd, & Rep. Susan Lynn Announce $2,321 State Board Programming ReGrant for Wilson County

October 14, 2024

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett, State Sen. Mark Pody, State Rep. Clark Boyd, and State Rep. Susan Lynn today announced a $2,321 State Board Programming ReGrant for Cumberland University’s Stockton Archives. The funding will be used to assist in covering the cost of artwork storage shelves, corrugated frame corners, panoramic print boxes, oversized boxes for maps, and prints.

“Through these grants, we are ensuring the treasures of our past are not lost,” said Sen. Pody. “These resources preserve our community’s important documents, as well as the stories and wisdom they contain.”

State Board Programming ReGrants are awarded to any government entity or nonprofit that holds permanent, historically valuable archival collections. These awards assist organizations with technology, training, contracted services, hiring staff, as well as supplies.

“Archives hold the living documents of our community’s history,” said Rep. Boyd and Rep. Lynn in a joint statement. “Supporting preservation efforts at the Cumberland University Stockton Archives through this grant award ensures future generations can access our vibrant historical resources.”

Funding is made possible by the National Historical Publications & Records Commission and administered through the Tennessee Historical Records Advisory Board (THRAB).

“Preserving our irreplaceable historical records enables future generations to learn about Tennessee’s rich history,” said Secretary Hargett. “I appreciate Sen. Pody, Rep. Boyd, and Rep. Lynn for supporting these grants, which will ensure the invaluable stories of Wilson County will endure.”

This year, $20,000 in funding was awarded to organizations across Tennessee. For more about grants administered by the Library & Archives for public libraries, visit sos.tn.gov/tsla.
