Fiji will host the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Summit 2025. This was confirmed during the GSTC Summit 2024 in Stockholm, Sweden last week.

“We are very excited, there was a tender process that we went through to bid for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council Summit 2025,” Tourism Fiji chief operations officer Leigh Howard said at the Tourism Super Week in Denarau yesterday.

“We were up against a lot of destinations in the world out there. It will be held in Fiji from August 5 to 8 on Denarau.”

He said this was an opportunity to showcase all Fiji was doing in the sustainable space and leverage the Global Sustainable Tourism Council in all the practices they do.

“We are excited, and this is great for Fiji, and we expect about 500-600 people.”

Sustainability and adventure travel 

“These themes are not only relevant, but essential as we navigate the evolving landscape of global tourism,” Mr Howard said.

“Sustainability is at the core of contemporary travel.

“It’s about more than just environmental conservation; it’s about ensuring that our tourism practices contribute positively to our communities, enhance economic benefits, and maintain cultural integrity.

“As stewards of our destinations, it is our responsibility to foster practices that support sustainable development.”

“Travellers today seek more than just relaxation; they crave authentic, engaging, and eco-conscious experiences,” Mr Howard said.

“Collaboration is another key theme.
